Illumination is entirely managed by students that volunteer their time.
Established in 2004 by Adam Blackbourn, Illumination was created for the purpose of providing a beautiful space for undergraduate students of the University of Wisconsin-Madison to share their creative work. Illumination publishes a print journal once a semester, showcasing fiction, poetry, essays, artwork, and in-depth exploration pieces on the Wisconsin Idea.
The mission of Illumination is to provide the undergraduate student body of the University of Wisconsin-Madison a chance to publish work in the fields of humanities and to display some of the school’s best talent. As an approachable portal for creative writing, art, and scholarly essays, the diverse content in the journal will be valuable addition to the intellectual community of the University and all of the people it affects.
